Helen Shipman Dunham Kernaghan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, 2 January 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, 5 January 2010 at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Sam Lamback will officiate. Visitation: Monday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macon Outreach, P.O. Box 149, Macon, GA 31202. Mrs. Kernaghan was a longtime member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, the Ainsworth Memorial Choir, and the Joy Class. She worked at Kernaghan's Jewelers for over 30 years and managed Bailey, Banks, and Biddle for 10 years. Mrs. Kernaghan was the widow of C. E. Kernaghan, Jr. and the daughter of the late Oliver Shepherd and Annie Sue Dickerson Shipman. She was predeceased by her siblings, Horace Shipman, Nolan Shipman, Herbert Shipman, Raye Shipman Parker, and Lamar Shipman. She was an avid reader and bridge player. She loved playing games and going on Easter egg hunts with her grandchildren. Her memory will be forever treasured by her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Kernaghan is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Dunham Mason (Richard) of Byron, and Dorothy Dunham Woodard (Randy) of Perry; six grandchildren, Elaine Graham (Travis) of Perry, Ray and David Mason, both of Byron, Drew, Chris and Randi Lea Woodard, all of Perry; and sister, Martha Shipman Brantley of New Orleans.
