Helen Cook Bethune Sharpe

Helen Cook Bethune Sharpe, affectionately known as "Foonie", 89, of Macon passed away on August 14, 2014. Services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street with the Reverend Joe McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Mrs. Sharpe was the daughter of the late Dr. Benjamin T. and Helen Cook Bethune of Macon. She was educated in the Bibb County school system and went on to work for the Bibb County Department of Public Health in the Drug Abuse Program for which she was the Administrative Director. Helen was a lifelong member of Vineville Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Melissa Sharpe (Kenneth) Kuipers and her son, Michael Edward Sharpe; grandchildren, Allison Helen Kuipers and John Hilton Kuipers, of Macon.
