Hazel Hanson Pittman

Hazel Hanson Pittman, wife of Marvin C. Pittman, Jr. "Sonny", died Friday, June 02, 2017. Mrs. Pittman was born in Macon July 21, 1917, the daughter of Mrs. Nettie Medlock Hanson and Mr. Wesley Leon Hanson. She was married 54 years to Marvin C. Pittman, Jr. Mrs. Pittman attended Macon public schools and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught several years in Macon at the elementary level. Mrs. Pittman was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church, where she served fifteen years as counselor of the high school senior department with Mr. Pittman. She was a member of the Webb Fellowship Class, and a former member of Idle Hour Country Club. Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by her husband and by her son, Dr. Thomas A. Pittman, M.D. of Columbia, Maryland. Her survivors include three daughters: Carol P. Squires of Macon; Gena P. Rothermel (Charlie), of Atlanta; Betsy P. Clark (Ansel), of Valdosta; grandchildren: Hunter Squires of Macon; Kelly Squires Haynes, (Mike), of Macon; Parrish Clark, (Eleanor), of Valdosta; Vinny Clark, of Valdosta; Chad Rothermel (Sarah) of Victor, Idaho; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held at the residence of Hunter Squires on Tuesday, June 6th, from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
