Hazel Strickland McCafferty died Friday, April 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Allan McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. A Scripture service will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Rd. The family will greet friends after the service until 9:00 PM. The family may be contacted at the residence. Donations may be made to St. Joseph School, 905 High Street, Macon GA 31201; Mount De Sales Academy, 851 Orange Street, Macon, GA 31201; or to the donor's favorite charity.
Mrs. McCafferty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. For thirty- five years, she was the office manager for Doctors King, Schuessler, and Pope. She was the widow of Thomas Aquinas McCafferty, the daughter of the late Jesse Strickland and the late Maude Viola Voyles Strickland, and was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Thelma Armour, J.D. Strickland, Myrtle L. Mize, Leila Burroughs, William Strickland, Remona Strickland, and Irene Strickland.
Mrs. McCafferty is survived by her daughters, Cynthia McCafferty Coyner (Charles), of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Scarlett McCafferty Conner (Walter) of Macon; beloved grandchild, Christopher McCafferty Conner, of Macon; two brothers, Paul D. Strickland (Pat) of Fayettevile, Georgia and Raymond C. Strickland of Gray, Georgia; sister, Nell Caldwell of Hartwell, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
