Hazel Comer Braun, 84, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Daughter of the late William Comer and Florine Comer Haralson, Hazel was born in Gray, Georgia on July 30, 1939. She was a longtime employee with the Bank of Gray, and later worked in the finance department and the Parks and Recreation department for the City of Macon. After retirement, she volunteered for the Coliseum Hospital Gift Shop for ten years.
A faithful member of the Ingleside Baptist Church, Hazel lived a life of faith and fellowship. Her spirit, characterized by generosity and love, will be remembered by all who knew her.
Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori Roberts Garrett (Ricky) of Macon; son, Michael Roberts (Rhonda) of Macon; grandchildren: Katie Ridley (Ryan) of Macon, Stacy Horn (Brien) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Cole Garrett (Maggie) of Athens, Georgia; brother, Richard Comer (Mary) of Macon; and stepsister, Estelle Herndon (Robert) of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Rolf W. Braun; sisters, Velma Watts and Reba Bowen; half sister, Edna Warren; and stepbrother, Robert Haralson.
