Harolene Murray Willis, 80, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on January 27, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.
Daughter of the late Harold Murray and Irene Ponsell Murray, Harolene was born in Waycross, Georgia on February 6, 1944. She graduated from Waycross High School and went on to attend the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, an achievement that was recognized by her nomination to Who’s Who In American Colleges and Universities. She continued her education at Georgia College in Milledgeville, where she earned her master’s degree in Education. She was a retired teacher from the Jones County Board of Education and the Georgia Department of Justice.
Harolene had a passion for Horses, a love instilled in her from the tender age when her father first guided her rides. She was skilled in showing Tennessee Walking Horses and embracing the joys of trail riding. She was involved in several associations, including Georgia Walking Horse Exhibitors Association, Tennessee Breeders and Exhibitors Association, and the Walking Horse Owners Association. Her leadership qualities were evident as she served on the boards of both the Georgia WHEA and the Walking HOA.
Harolene will be lovingly remembered by her son, Fleming Anderson, and her canine companion, Kirby.
