Macon-Hal Hatcher, 95, died Thursday, January 8, 2009. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Vineville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Malcolm Davis officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. The family may be contacted at 4814 Brittany Drive, the residence of Helen and Jimmy Braswell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204; the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, P.O. Box 2600, Macon, GA 31203; or the donor's favorite charity. Mr. Hatcher was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. A member of Idle Hour Country Club for 73 years, he was an avid golfer who first shot his age at 71 and shot it numerous times thereafter. He lived in Forsyth until 1983 where he was the former Mayor and the owner of Hatcher Feed Mill. Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Avent Grier and his parents, George Edwin, Sr. and Kathleen Ayer Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Jimmy Braswell of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patty Hatcher of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Patricia Hatcher of Atlanta, Grier Williford of Jacksonville, FL, and Hamp Williford of Macon.
