Gregory Troy Young, 65, a resident of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, died suddenly on March 23, 2013, while visiting family in Macon, Georgia. Troy was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, on December 27, 1947, to the late Norma and Smith Young. As an "Air Force brat" he traveled widely but especially loved the mountains of Montana. He enjoyed scuba diving, the martial arts, and playing his guitar. Troy proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for the Department of Defense as an expert in combat communications for thirty years. Troy was devoted to his family, his country, and his music. Survivors include his wife, Bronwyn Young of Plain Dealing, LA; sister, Gaylia Young of Phoenix, AZ; stepsons, Jay and Phil Daly; granddaughter, Savannah Daly; brothers-in-law, George, Roger, and Mark Phillips; mother-in-law, Margaret Phillips. Memorial services will be conducted at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA, with the Reverend Joe McDaniel officiating, on March 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 3343 Peachtree Road, NE #M20, Atlanta, Georgia 30326. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
