Gregory William Putnal

Gregory William Putnal was born November 29, 1955 in Macon, Georgia and passed away Monday, March 24, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 4:00PM on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr. and Dr. Charley Chase officiating. Family will greet friends following the service at the Cupola.

A devoted father and son, loving husband, wonderful brother, fun uncle, and always a caring family man. Greg loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. For a favorite past-time, he enjoyed sharing stories and making people laugh. He began his career in the insurance industry with his father and spent the last 20 years working for Acme, IKON, and RICOH. Greg served on the Board at Vine-Ingle Little League where he enjoyed coaching for many years. He was one of the founders and coaches for Vineville Methodist Youth for Christ Basketball where he also served on the Board of Directors. He helped organize and direct the monthly Lake Juliette Fishing Tournament and annual Fall Classic Tournament. An avid sports fan, Greg always stood by his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Greg was predeceased by his father, Stafford Harding Putnal; and brothers, Gary Putnal and Stan Putnal.

He is survived by his wife, Wade Putnal; daughter, Mixon Putnal; son, William Putnal; mother, Mavis Putnal, sister, Zeta Rowntree (David); sister-in-law, Kay F. Putnal (Stan); brothers, Rex Putnal (Gayle) and Steve Putnal (Kay); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tommy and Toot Mixon; brother-in-law, Tom Mixon, Jr. (Dimy); and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mixon; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
