Gloria Elmore Penland

Gloria Elmore Penland, 87, of 116 West Ridge Circle, died Monday, September 10, 2012. Services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Alan McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A rosary will be held on Thursday at 6:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, and the family will greet friends until 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 200 Northside Crossing, Macon, Georgia 31210 or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Mrs. Penland was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Mt. de Sales. Mrs. Penland was the owner and operator of Mrs. Penland's Daycare for more than thirty-three years. She was predeceased by her husband, Morris Jacob Penland, her parents, Jasper Gregory Elmore and Pauline Toole Elmore, her grandson, Shannon Williams, her sisters, Pauline Raines, Edith Turner, Margaret Jones and Laverne Knight and her brother, Jasper Elmore. Mrs. Penland is survived by her daughter, Marcia Williams of Juliette; son, Morris "Buck" Penland (Sara) of Juliette, daughter, Gail Marshall (John) of Macon; grandchildren, Kim and Dan Hinton of Culloden and Paige and Chris McCallum of Victor, Idaho; five great-grandchildren.
