Glenis Allen Fields, 75, died Thursday, December 26, 2013. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Macon Memorial Park with Frank Maxwell officiating. Family will greet friends between 5:00 and 6:00PM on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia SPCA, 1175 Buford Hwy., Suite 109, Suwanee, Georgia 30024; St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or American Red Cross for Disaster Relief, PO Box 97089, Washington, DC 20090. Mrs. Fields was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and a member of a local interfaith group. She studied art at Wesleyan College and was a long-time member of the Middle Georgia Art Association. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon and from Mercer University. She taught a special needs class at Redding School in Lizella, worked in the office of the Dean of Students at Wesleyan College, and retired from Stratford Academy after many years as Assistant Librarian. Mrs. Fields loved the beauty of the outdoors, both land and water. She and her husband travelled to many parts of the country with their Airstream trailer. She enjoyed touring the Blue Ridge Parkway by motorcycle and loved the ocean and Tybee Island. She had an inquisitive mind and openness to learning. Mrs. Fields is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Felder "Skip" Fields of Macon; and two sisters, Mary Jo Allen Allen of Clearwater, Florida and Caryl Allen Gazmen of Columbia, Maryland.
