Glenda Jo Haggard

Glenda Jo Ogle Haggard, age 75, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026.

Glenda was born on August 31, 1951, in Langdale, Alabama, to Joe Edward Ogle and Mary Magdalene Holland Ogle. Her father’s career with the U.S. Army took the family to many places during her childhood, including Alabama, South Carolina, France, Washington, Arizona, and Alaska. She graduated from East Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska.

Glenda later moved to Macon, Georgia, where she was introduced to Robert Julian “Bob” Haggard through her sister, Linda, and Bob’s best friend, Wesley. After dating for only three months, Glenda and Bob were married on October 24, 1970, beginning a marriage that would span nearly 56 years. Together they raised their only daughter, Tiffany, and lived in Alabama and several areas of Georgia before eventually making their longtime home at Lake Sinclair. There, Glenda and Bob enjoyed boating, fishing, playing cards and board games, and spending time with family and friends on their covered porch overlooking the lake.

Glenda enjoyed a successful career in insurance and became an associate agent with Karen Rowell State Farm in Milledgeville. She had a natural gift for working with people and was especially good at getting to know her customers and remembering their families over the years. For a time, her beloved dachshund, Tootsie Roll, accompanied her to the office and happily perched on Glenda’s desk, becoming a favorite with customers as well.

Glenda especially treasured her role as “Nana” to her three grandsons. She loved cooking for her family, with her homemade chicken and dumplings being a particular favorite and enjoyed playing cards and spending time on the lake. She also had a lifelong love for animals, especially dogs, and her own pets were always cherished members of the family. Glenda was creative and loved crafting as well. In recent years, she especially enjoyed decoupage and often shared her handmade creations with others, including nurses and fellow patients at Central Georgia Cancer Care.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Edward Ogle and Mary Magdalene Holland Ogle; her sister, Brenda McAuley Heckman; and her brother, Joe Dennis Ogle.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Julian “Bob” Haggard; her daughter, Tiffany Donnell of Eatonton; her three grandsons, D.J. Davis of Dahlonega, Ty Davis of Carrollton, and Cam Davis of Eatonton; her sister, Linda Forbes-Rountree; her nieces, Kelly McAuley Etheridge and Lora Annette Forbes; her nephew, James “Darren” Forbes; and many beloved great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.

Glenda will be remembered for her gift for connecting with people, her creativity and generosity, and, most of all, for the love she shared with her family and friends.

A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hart’s, 307 Pecan Lane in Gray. Family and friends are invited to gather throughout the afternoon to visit, share memories, and celebrate her life together.
