Glenda Giles Amos

Glenda Giles Amos, 79, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Butler United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bill Woodson officiating. Burial will take place at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Family will greet friends Sunday, December 28, 2014 between 4:30-6:30PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenda's memory to Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Glenda was the widow of 49 years to William C. "Billy" Amos. She was the daughter to the late Carl and Hazel Giles. Glenda lived in Butler, Georgia most of her life. She attended Butler High School where she was active in performing arts. Her performance in the one act play "We Brent's Pay Our Debts" was instrumental in winning Region and State. Glenda received her Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications from Wesleyan College. She was formerly the reigning "Miss Butler" in Taylor County. She was a member of Butler United Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Church. Glenda was active in many civic clubs including the Butler Garden Club and United Methodist Women's Circle. She served as trustee on several boards including her church and Beechwood Schools. Glenda spearheaded multiple community service initiatives and charitable fundraising projects. Glenda dedicated her life to rearing her three children and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She loved cooking, embroidery, and dress making. Survivors include her daughter, Jayne Amos of Butler, Georgia; son, Bill Amos (Lura) of Perry, Georgia; daughter, Jill Amos of Macon; four grandchildren, Caroline Amos, William Amos, Giles Amos, and Haviland Amos; and sisters, Hazel Stalnaker of Butler, and Frances Huffman of Florida.
