Glen D. Payne

Glen D. Payne, 74, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024, at Ingleside Baptist Church, with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall.   Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.

Son of the late Bennett Edward Payne, Jr. and Betty Ruth Dean Payne, Glen was born on August 7, 1949, in Moultrie, Georgia.  A proud veteran, serving his country bravely in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his military career, Glen brought the same dedication to the Keebler Company, from which he retired.  His passions extended beyond his service and career to the simpler pleasures in life, such as fishing and gardening, activities where he found peace and joy. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.

Glen was a devoted member of Ingleside Baptist Church, where he shared his faith and fellowship with others.

Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Payne of Macon; Daughter, Laurie Nolan (Walker) of Cumming, Georgia, Georgia; sons, Jim Sanders (Jan Green) of Macon, and Michael Chapman (Betty) of Ackworth, Georgia; grandchildren: Emily Shaw (Bo), Will Nolan, Katlyn Sanders, Schylar Chapman, and Avery Hertel; two great grandchildren: Kyrie Hardy and Carter Watts; step-sister, Lisa Powell of Moultrie, Georgia; and a very large extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cleveland Payne and Travis Payne.
