Gladys Payne Yarbrough

Macon- Gladys Payne Yarbrough, 87, died Thursday, January 1, 2009. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:00AM at Macon Memorial Park with Dr. Bill Hardee officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street and may be contacted at 1051 College Street, the residence of Gus Yarbrough. Mrs. Yarbrough, wife of the late Dr. John W. Yarbrough, was a member of Vineville Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Grady Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of Federated Garden Club and Ocmulgee Bridge Club. Mrs. Yarbrough is survived by her sons and daughter, Richard A. "Gus" Yarbrough of Macon, John W. "Billy" Yarbrough, Jr. of Milledgeville, GA and Gloria Anne Battle of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; grandsons, James C. "Clay" Yarbrough of Atlanta, John W. Yarbrough, III, of Birmingham, Alabama and Richard A. "Ray" Yarbrough, Jr. of Macon; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Carswell of Brunswick, GA and Olive Raines of Atlanta.
