Gladys Kornegay Keith, 81, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Christ, with the Reverend Julie Long officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the sanctuary. Burial will be held at Gause Cemetery in Gause, Texas.
Daughter of the late Robert Arnold Kornegay and Bessie Myrtle Green Kornegay, Gladys was born on January 15, 1945, in Gause, Texas. She faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon and was devoted to her church family and community.
Gladys was an avid quilter and a member of the Heart of Georgia Quilt Guild, plus many other bees and sewing groups in the community. She enjoyed sharing her creativity and talents with others. Having begun quilting as a teenager, she was probably the fastest quilter on the east coast, making more than 100 quilts a year. These quilts she gave freely to family, friends, charities, and strangers. Repairmen who came to her house often found themselves in possession of a quilt as a thank you.
Gladys also taught quilting to others, leading many classes and workshops on a variety of quilting topics. She was a life-long learner of the subject, participating in workshops as a student herself. She would say that any day she got to quilt was a good day.
Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her son, Randal Clayton Keith (Donna R Keith) of Willis, Texas; daughter, Dr. Sheree Nicole Keith (Robert E. Wall) of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren: Lorelai Wall, Krista Keith, and Dalynn Keith; and two great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Adalynn.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings: William Arnold, Martha Lucinda Moore, Charles Edward, Cecil Ray, and Harold Gene.
