Gladys Sanders Cannon

Macon- Gladys Sanders Cannon, who celebrated her 100th birthday on January 1, 2012, passed away on January 3, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Greenwood Baptist Church, 3400 Gray Highway, with the Reverends Sam Scarborough and Joe Ferguson officiating. The family will greet friends at 1:00PM before the service at the church. Burial will be private. Mrs. Cannon, the widow of Hoyt Esten Cannon, was born near Danville, Georgia and had lived in Macon since the 1920's. She was the daughter of the late Reuben G. and Ida Phillips Sanders. Mrs. Cannon was a homemaker and a longtime member of Cross Keys Baptist Church and was presently a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. Survivors are her sons, Hoyt E. Cannon, Jr. (Drenna) of Warner Robins and G. Frank Cannon (Evelyn) of Macon; grandchildren, Gentry Roberts and Kayren Cannon of Bonaire, Gordon Cannon of Greenville, SC, and Kimper Thomas (Matt) of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Hunter Roberts, Jakob Roberts, Elizabeth Oliver and Jay Oliver, and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church in her memory. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
