George Randall "Randy" Bates

George Randall "Randy" Bates, 73, of Haddock, GA, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Josh Gale officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.  Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Agape Care Georgia, 341 N Cobb St., Milledgeville, GA 31061.

Son of the late Wallace Brack and Margaret Gray Bates, Randy graduated from Charles H. Bruce Grammar School and A.R. Willingham Senior High School.  He then served his country for four years in the United States Navy as an electrician during the Vietnam War.  He worked at Cleveland Electric before going to IBEW Electrical Union in Macon where he retired after decades of service.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bates.

Randy was known for his selfless dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.  He will be remembered by his siblings as “the world’s greatest brother”.

Randy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cathey Bates of Haddock; daughter, Crystal Patat (Greg) of Forsyth, Georgia; grandchildren, Skylar McQueen, and Landon Davis; great granddaughter, Braelynn Tallaksen; brother, Wallace Bates (Ginger) of Roswell, Georgia; nieces, Amber Harrington of Macon, Traci Burgess (Chris) of Roswell and Keri Brock (Kurt) of LaGrange, Texas.
