George P. Moore, Sr.

George P. Moore Sr.: 88, of Gray, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Jim Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Born in Lizella, Ga., he was the son of the late John Travis Moore Sr. and Ethel Pearl Newberry Moore. He was the husband of the late Mary Williams "Maggie" Moore. He was predeceased by his son in law, Murray Williams, Granddaughter, Brenda Cail and Great grandchild, Denver Cail, and two brothers, John Travis Moore, Jr. and William Arthur Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of the Christ Community Church in Gray, he was retired from Southern Crate and Veneer Co after 40 years of service. He was also the owner of Moores Mini Mart and Moores Logging Company. He was a World War II veteran serving in the China-Burma Theatre in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his Children, Joyce Trew(Paul) of Lithia Springs, Ga.; Judy Williams of Juliette, Ga. and Pleas (B.J.) Moore of Gray, Ga. Grandchildren, George "Bo" Moore (Lavina) of Columbus, Ga; Tracy Beale (Jeff) of Gray, Ga.; Jason Moore(Haley) of Gray, Ga..; Margaret Hultberg (Stephen) of Lithia Springs, Ga. Four Great grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted, but memorial may be made to the Christ Community Church, Gray, Ga. 31032. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com.
