George R. Kelly

George R. Kelly, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00PM in the Kelly Family Cemetery, Kelly Road, Jones County. The family will greet friends today, Wednesday, from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Mr. Kelly was born in Macon to the late George W. Kelly and Rebecca Lou Blount. He grew up in Jones County and graduated from Jones County High School. Mr. Kelly retired from Georgia Kaolin, working as an electrician for over 40 years. He was a member of Stone Creek Baptist Church and served as Twiggs County Commissioner in the 60's and 70's. Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by his wife, of 53 years, Catherine Fordham Kelly. Survivors include in loving family: four daughters, Karen (Foy) Stevenson, Kathy Georgette (Milton) Long, Marilyn (Giacomo) Basadonna and Vicky (Ricky) Williams; grandchildren, Kelly Wilkins, Chris Long, Cameron Long, Lindsey DeBorde, Martino Basadonna, Alessandra Basadonna, Gerry Basadonna, Francesca Basadonna, Rick Williams and Sidney Williams; great grandchildren, Emmy Wilkins, Felicity Wilkins and Ayden DeBorde; and brothers, Hansel Kelly and Hurley Kelly.
