George “Squawky” Herbert Folsom, Jr.

George “Squawky” Herbert Folsom, Jr., 85, of Macon, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Hart’s Chapel on Cherry Street.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jay’s Hope Foundation, 1157 Forsyth St., Macon, GA 31201.

Son of the late George Herbert and Marguerite Marie Westberry Folsom, Mr. Folsom graduated from Lanier High School.  He then joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  He was also deployed to Fuchu, Japan. Upon returning to the states, he began a career with BellSouth.  He began his career in real estate in 1970 with McNair Realty. He was the owner of Folsom Realty and Appraisals and a member of the Board of Realtors for over 50 years.  He was a lifetime member of the YMCA/Wellness Center of Macon. Mr. Folsom was a huge sport enthusiast, with his strongest love being walking and running with his friends.

Mr. Folsom was preceded in death by his son, Monty Craig Folsom.

Mr. Folsom is survived by his life partner Charlotte Folsom of Macon; children, Marcus George Folsom of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Miki Folsom (Stephanie) of Macon; stepchildren, April Cook of Lexington, Georgia, Tiffany Peters of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Amber VanKirk of Macon; 8 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
