Georgann Dessau Blum was born on August 31, 1925, and passed away on September 26, 2022.  She was the daughter of Washington and Frances Stevens Dessau and a life-long resident of Macon.  After attending Alexander IV Elementary School and A.H. Miller High School, she graduated from Wesleyan College in 1947.  Georgann then studied for a year at the Traphagen School of Design in New York City.

In 1948, she married Arnold Blum, her husband of sixty-five years.  Besides her primary interest in their four children, Georgann gave her time and attention to scouting, PTA, gardening, and supporting local arts and cultural endeavors.  A member of Vineville United Methodist Church, she served as President of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School to both children and adults.  She also served as President of the Town and Country Garden Club and of the Macon Symphony Orchestra Guild, and enjoyed memberships in The History Club of Macon and The Morning Music Club.  Georgann held positions on the boards of the Family Counseling Center and the Macon Symphony Orchestra where she led the youth activities program.  A scholarship for students of string instruments was named in her honor.

In addition to her parents and husband, Georgann was preceded in death by her sister, Stevens Dessau Ashmore and husband, Walter, and her sister Cordelia Dessau Holliday and husband, Jack. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Estelle Blum Cartwright, Frances Madeleine Blum, Victoria Blum Greene and husband, Buddy, and Arnold Blum, Jr.; granddaughters, Emily Cartwright Barton and husband, Chip, Sarah Cartwright Adams and husband, Dennis, Erin Greene Loofbourrow and husband, Ross, Georganna Kelley Greene and Nina Claire Blum; great-grandchildren Susanna Adams Wallace and husband, Daniel, Sarah Kathryn Barton, Benjamin Wesley Barton, Estelle Stevens Adams, and Georgia Rose Loofbourrow; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barbara Blum, in addition to a number of nieces and nephews.
