Gene Strouss

Gene B. Strouss, 90, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025. Private services will be held in Atlanta.

Gene is survived by his wife, Claudia; daughter, Lisa (Gary); son, Bart (Laurie); stepson, Jay Cranford (Linda); five grandchildren; three great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews, including Sandra Henry Hill.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Glen O. Strouss, Vanessa P. Strouss and stepmother, Dezzie Strouss.

Gene was educated in Indiana Public Schools, Freed Hardman College and Lipscomb University. He retired from Freeport-McMoRan formerly New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and a former member of Historic Macon Foundation, Macon Golden K Kiwanis Club, and other civic organizations.  He was also a member of the Mercer Athletic Foundation where he enjoyed many years of watching basketball.

One of Gene’s greatest joys in his life was receiving his private pilot’s license in 1980 while in Elko, Nevada. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling, having traveled to six of the seven continents and forty-nine states. They enjoyed their time living in Indonesia as well.

Memorials may be made to Middle Georgia Rescue Mission.
