Gayle Register Chaffin

Gayle Register Chaffin, 77, of Macon, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Memorial services will be held at 4:30pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Burden Parlor at Wesleyan College. Dr. William Hurdle will officiate. The family will remain in the parlor following the service to greet visitors. The daughter of the late William Henry Register, Jr. and the late Lolly Mae Lowery Robinson, Mrs. Chaffin was a graduate of Miller High School, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and founder and past president of the middle Georgia chapter of the National Secretaries' Association. Mrs. Chaffin served as executive secretary for the Saint Louis County Council in Missouri; secretary for Jack Carlton, President of Macon Junior College; and most recently, administrative assistant for the music and theatre department of Wesleyan College. Mrs. Chaffin shared a love of arts and crafts with her sister Gwyne and was co-proprietor of Misty River Gallery in Juliette for over 12 years. Mrs. Chaffin is survived by her husband, Charles H. Chaffin, Jr. of Macon; daughter, Lindy Chaffin Start and granddaughter, Annelise Start of Decatur; twin sister, Gwyne Register Armstrong and her husband, Robert, of Forsyth; brother, Lowery Robinson and his wife, Vickie, of Dacula; four nephews and a niece.
