Dr. Gary Godlewski

Dr. Gary Godlewski, age 72, of Macon, passed away on April 4, 2025.

Gary was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and was a proud graduate of Briarcliff High School, the University of Georgia, and the Medical College of Georgia. He dedicated 35 years of his life to serving his community as an emergency medicine physician, offering care and compassion to countless patients and families.

Beyond his professional life, Gary found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with his loved ones. His calm presence, sense of humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; his children, Dylan (Victoria) and Rachael; and his grandchildren, Layla, Emery, and Grady; and his mother-in-law, Wynell Butler. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mike Godlewski, Stephen Godlewski, Paula Foote; and sister-in-law Tammy Powell (Kenny).

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Jane Godlewski; his brother, Ted Godlewski; his sister, Wanda Braden; and his father-in-law, William Butler.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Hart’s at the Cupola. The family will have a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Gary’s memory.

His legacy of compassion, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
