Gail Pennington Brooks

Ms. Gail Pennington Brooks, 83, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Private funeral services will be held graveside, at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Creede Hinshaw officiating. The family will greet friends Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.

Ms. Brooks was born in Adel, Georgia in 1938 and attended the University of Georgia. She met Lee Pennington on a blind date and just six months later, in 1959, they were married.  The couple moved to Gordon, Georgia in 1961 where Ms. Brooks began her work for the Gordon Bank in 1968. Mr. Pennington passed away in 1982.  In 1987, Ms. Brooks married Terrell Lee Brooks, a friend she’d met in college.  Mr. Brooks passed away in 2008.

Ms. Brooks was an active member of the Mulberry United Methodist Church and enjoyed her weekly bridge games with friends.  She loved to travel, she loved to sing and dance, and, most of all, she loved her family fiercely.  Ms. Brooks never met a stranger and was generous without measure.

Ms. Brooks is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edith Cox; her first husband, Mr. Lee Bowles Pennington; and her second husband, Mr. Terrell Lee Brooks. She is survived by her son, Lee Wall Pennington, of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Beth DuLong (Darryl), of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Britt Pennington (Christi), Colin Pennington, Paris Pennington, Zach DuLong (Savannah), Alex DuLong, and Christopher DuLong; and four great-grandchildren.
