Franklin D. Slaton

Franklin D. Slaton, 79, of Lizella, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Revered Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family may be contacted at 3324 South Lizella Road, Lizella, Georgia, and will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Mr. Slaton was born in Oglethorpe County to the late William Slaton and the late Izzabell Bruce Slaton. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and enjoyed yard work and carpentry. He was employed with Defoor Acoustical for more than thirty years. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all brought great joy to his life. Mr. Slaton is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lenderman and son, David Slaton (Laverne), both of Lizella. He was Pop to his grandchildren, Scott Hornaday (Joni) of Byron, Stephanie (Michael) Vanderveer of Lizella, Michelle (Christian) Griffiths of Macon and Ryan Slaton of Lizella. He was Papa to his great-grandchildren, Haven, Kaylyn and Searan Hornaday and Jackson, Tucker and Sophia Vanderveer, and Ansley Griffiths. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
