Frank Mallary Willingham

Macon-Frank Mallary Willingham, 94, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Highland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Bruner and the Reverend Cass DuCharme officiating. Visitation will be between 5:00-7:00PM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1370 Briarcliff Road, Macon, GA 31211, or Rose Hill Cemetery, 1071 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31201. Family may be reached at 1139 Oakcliff Road, Macon, GA 31211. Mr. Willingham was born on Clisby Street, Macon, GA on August 14, 1916. His father was the late Broadus Estes Willingham, Jr. and the late Rosalie Mallary Willingham of Macon, GA. Frank graduated from Baylor school in Chattanooga, TN. He went two years to Davidson College, NC. and transferred to University of Georgia where he met his wife, Mary Eugenia Watson. Frank served in World War II as a Navy Lieutenant. At the war's conclusion, he was Vice President and later President of Willingham Cotton Mills. Frank's was one part of the founding families of Highland Hills Baptist Church. He was also a member of the choir and the Chairman of the Deacons. Frank also served on the Bibb County Board of Education. He also was a founding member of the Macon Touchdown Club and he loved his Georgia Bulldogs football. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Willingham was predeceased by his three siblings, Broadus E. Willingham, III, Rose Willingham, and Thomas Slade Willingham. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mary Willingham of Macon; sons, Broadus E. Willingham, IV (Melinda) of Macon, Frank M. Willingham, Jr. (Patricia) of Damascus, Maryland, and Lloyd Watson Willingham (Carol) of Crawfordville, Florida; and seven grandchildren, Amy, Kassandra, Bo, Michelle, Frankie, Thomas, and Brandon.
