Frank Edwards passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2015. He was born in Savannah but had been a Macon resident since 1919. He graduated from Lanier High School and subsequently attended Mercer University. He graduated from Mercer in 1938 where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was drafted into the Army in April 1941 and assigned to the Counter Intelligence Corp. In 1943 he was stationed in Scotland and England. Later during the war he served in France and Belgium before crossing into Germany shortly before the war's end. He continued his service in the Army Reserves and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He took over his father's insurance business in Macon and later merged it with Fickling and Walker. He continued to work well into his eighties. He was a longtime member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. He was predeceased by his wife, Bettye Patricia Deen, in 2001 and by his brothers, Lamar and Charles. He is survived by his four children, Larry Edwards (Sharon), Kathy Gratop, Gale Harrison (Stan) and Bobby Edwards. Grandchildren are Austin Edwards, Peyton Edwards (Grace), Carly Edwards, Brian Herring (Leslee), Logan Brown (Will), Amy Harden, and Nick Fisher (Jamie), along with five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend Tommy Martin officiating.
