Francis Joseph Starr's heavenly Father called him home on Sunday, February, 15, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, February 20, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father McDonald will officiate. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery. A Rosary will be said on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 6:00PM, at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street. The family will greet friends from 5:30PM until 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Association of Recovery Schools (ARS)(501C-3), 1231 Highland Ave, Ft. Washington, PA 19034. Kristen Kelley Harper, Francis' granddaughter is the Executive Director at ARS. Mr. Starr was born on November 5, 1921, in Macon, GA, to John Henry Starr and Bettina Sylvester Starr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Martha Duckworth Starr, his son, Francis J. Starr Jr., his daughter, Martha Bettina Starr and his second wife of 10 years, Alyce Juhan Holland Starr. Survivors: Daughters, Cheryl Ann Kelley of Macon, Frances Kimberly Selph of Atlanta; three granddaughters, Kristen Harper, Annabelle and Martha Selph, and grandson Michael Kelley. Mr. Starr completed his elementary schooling from St. Joseph Catholic School, completed Lanier High School in the class of 1939 and then attended Georgia Tech. After Pearl Harbor, 1941, he volunteered to join the Air Force, but during his induction discovered he had Tuberculosis, and was sent home for treatment. He was an electrical contractor, for forty years, was president of Starr Electric Co. The company was founded by Francis and his father, Henry Starr, Sr. in 1947. He served as Governor, and Director for the Georgia Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association. He was a member of the Exchange Club for 40 years, was a charter member, and President of Riverside Golf & Country Club. He was a member of River North Golf and Country Club and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
