Macon- Frances Grant, 87, of 1830 Waverland Circle, died following an extended illness on Monday, September 29, 2008. Services will be held Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00AM at Highland Hills Baptist Church with the Reverend Cass DuCharme officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery (North Gate). The family will greet friends at 1830 Waverland Circle on Thursday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
Mrs. Grant was a graduate of Wesleyan College where she received an AB degree in psychology. She married George C. Grant in 1947 and was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Barnes, Sr. and the late Merle Fenton Johnson Barnes. Mrs. Barnes was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Grant Morris, and by her brother and sister, Thomas J. Barnes, Jr. and Sadye Claire Ray.
Mrs. Grant worked in banking and at Robins Air Force Base during World War II. She was a charter member of Highland Hills Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sara Harrell Sunday School Class and WMU. She was a member of Jackson Springs Garden Club, the Macon Jaycettes, and the Macon Women's Club and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Fran B. Grant of Macon and Martha Grant Clark (Tom) of Snellville, GA; grandchildren, Kelly Elizabeth Morris of Atlanta, GA and Grant Thomas Clark of Snellville, GA; several nieces and nephews.
