Frances Oxley Cox

Frances Oxley Cox, 97, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 2, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Hart’s Mortuary’s Chapel of the Cupola, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Holtzinger, Bryant Oxley, Brett Bakert, Cameron Cox, Danny Smith, and Ricky Foskey.

Frances was a lifelong resident of Macon, having attended A.L. Miller High School. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Frances had a strong love of family, often opening her home to others in their time of need. She enjoyed following the Atlanta Braves baseball team in good times and bad. Her most long-lasting enjoyment in life was her love of country music having attended Swampland and Powersville for many years. She and her family also sincerely appreciated and enjoyed her daily visits from her brother, Lee Oxley.

Frances is survived by her sons, S. Mike Cox (Ann) and Jeff Cox (Susan); daughter, Sandra Malcom (John Tacchi); brother, Lee Edward Oxley, III; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.E. Oxley and Lawune Everidge Oxley; daughters, Pam Cox Couch and Melanie Cox; grandsons, Brandon Hamrick and Robert Cox; great-grandson, Kyle Lord; brother Johnny Mack Oxley; sisters-in-law, Susan Nelson Oxley and Arlene Hall Oxley; and her dear cousin, Mary Pope.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
