FRANCES LINDSLEY CARTER Macon- Mrs. Carter died peacefully in her sleep Friday morning May 13, 2011 at The Oaks at Peake, Macon, Georgia. She was born August 25, 1918 in Atlanta. Mrs. Carter had lived in Decatur, Sandy Springs, and St. Simons Island, Georgia and in Apalachicola,Florida. She attended Atlanta public schools, graduated Atlanta Girls High School, and was a member of the 1940 class at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Active in Civil Defense, Mrs. Carter was an aircraft spotter on St. Simons Island during WWII. Later she worked for the Sandy Springs branch of the Atlanta Public Library system. For many years she assisted her husband with Carter Interiors in both Sandy Springs and St. Simons Island. Presbyterian by faith and the only daughter of the late A.O. and Minnie Moore Lindsley of Atlanta, Mrs. Carter was predeceased by her husband Roy Carter. She is survived by her daughter Lindsley Puster and son-in-law Jim of Macon, Georgia; son Kyle Roy Carter and daughter-in-law Sarah Hackney Carter of Pembroke, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Laura Puster Gunter and Hannah Puster Stewart both of Woodstock, Georgia; Heather Carter Hamner of Atlanta; and Travis Carter of Chicago; brothers-in-law Dr. T.E. Carter of Waco, Texas, and Oliver Carter Jr. of Williamson, Georgia; and five great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
