Frances Ann Bogdan, 88, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Rocks Springs Church, 1415 Bass Road, Macon. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Born in Struthers, Ohio on February 18, 1938, Frances was the daughter of the late Joseph Francis Carr and Josephine Klus Carr. She was a devoted wife and mother of four daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornel "Tex" Joe Bogdan, her oldest daughter, Debra Swantner, and her only brother, Gerald Carr.
The family moved to Georgia in 1984, where Fran became the youth Pastor at Harvest Cathedral. She made a lasting impact on the lives of many young people during that time. She continued on to study at the Christian School of Theology and spent her lifetime teaching the Bible to children and women's Bible studies. She was God-fearing woman of faith and ministered the Bible to many people. Most recently, she was an active member of Rock Springs Church, Macon campus and was a part of The Friendship Class. She loved the church and the wonderful friends that she had there.
Frances was well known for her love of cooking and baking and was considered an exceptional cook by all who knew her. She made many family meals, she cooked for large crowds and events, and even catered weddings and made wedding cakes. Her personal favorites that she enjoyed was Italian and Mexican food.
Frances, or Fran as many called her, was known by her family as "Francie." Her girls called her Mom, and many people lovingly called her “Mama Fran.” Because of her faith and always quoting scriptures, she was nicknamed "Prophetess" and she loved joking about that.
After retiring, Fran became a foster parent. Through fostering, Shod came into the family and became her adopted grandson. Soon after, she adopted a baby boy as her own son and raised him from infancy. At 88 years old, Fran was raising an 18-year-old son. She took wonderful care of him and stayed very involved in his school and activities. This May of 2026, we are celebrating Brandon graduating High School and Fran graduating to her Heavenly Home! To God be the glory!
The words to best describe this woman are selfless, loving, funny and dedicated. She was a true matriarch of her family. She is loved and honored and will be enormously missed. We celebrate her life and all she did for the Kingdom of God.
Frances will be lovingly remembered by her children: Terry Bogdan, Patricia Bogdan Williams, Kali Bogdan and Brandon Bogdan; grandchildren: Amy Pompeii, Katie Hunt, Chad Whitehead (Ashley), Taylor Howard (Jacob), John Bogdan, and Shod Bogdan; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; and sisters, Barb Lucas, Nancy Roof (Butch), and Marylin O’Neil (Paul).
