Florence "Sunny" Reed

Florence "Sunny" Reed was born October 15, 1939 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She died on July 21, 2013. She had been a resident at Carlyle Place for four years. Sunny was the second of four girls. She attended Tuskegee High School and Judson College. Sunny is survived by her husband, David Reed of Macon; three children: Hunter Slaton, Jr. (Donna) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Valerie Rogers (Clark) of Panama City, Florida, and Cindi Farmer (Randy) of Warner Robins; four step children: Nancy Reed (Kim Hodges) of Boulder, Colorado, John Reed (Pam) of Stockport, Ohio, James Reed (Lynette) of Belton, Texas, and David Reed of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren: Samantha, Hunter III, Clark, Jr., Ryan, Austin, Lauryn, Carlie, Taylor, and Bailie; two sisters: Mary Belle Dixon (Don) of Hatchechubbee, Alabama and Nancy Fisher of Phenix City, Alabama; and a step brother: Buddy Fisher (Helen) of Hoover, Alabama.

Sunny has been a successful business person in a number of venues. Initially, she was a society editor and reporter, then co-owner of a wholesale grocery distributorship, trainer of support staff to several investment advisors, and finally a manager for tax preparation offices.

Prior to her retirement, Sunny was active in several church and civic activities, where was chairman of several church committees. She was a founding director of The Joyce Payne Ministries, served as a volunteer to Cherished Children, United Way, and The Sunshine House, and was a Stephen Minister.

Sunny loved to sing and sang in church and community vocal groups. Her primary goal in life was to spoil her grandchildren. Her funeral will be private. She will be buried at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
