Ferris Harlan "Pat" Patterson, 90, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, preceded by interment at Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Towson and Reverend Diane Sweckard will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hart's Mortuary the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Ga. 31210. He was a member of the Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church and of late, Forest Hills United Methodist Church, where he attended the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII, having fought in the Normandy campaign through V - E Day. Born in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Dallas DeVotie and Ida Smith Patterson. A master carpenter and skilled artisan, he owned a contracting business, F. H. Patterson Builder, in Macon for a number of years. He enjoyed upland bird hunting and fishing as a younger man and in retirement was an avid wood worker, furniture crafter and grandfather. Preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Abbott Patterson, he is survived by his wife, Lynette Y. Sessions Patterson, of Macon, Georgia; his children, Harlan Stephen Patterson (Ana) of Rockville, Maryland; Bonnie Lynn Patterson Moreno(Orlando) of Ocala, Florida; step-children, Lyn Sessions Young of Macon, Elaine Sessions Toney of Dadeville, Alabama, Edward Sessions of Macon, Randy Sessions of Macon, three grandchildren and one great grandchild; and by his sister Mary Grace Patterson Murphey of Macon. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Forest Hills United Methodist Church Building Fund at 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, Ga. 31210.
