Faye Barbee Yarbrough

Faye Barbee Yarbrough, 80, of Roberta, passed away on December 22, 2025. The family will greet friends on Sunday December 28, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Hart’s on Cherry Street. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Hart’s on Cherry Street on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Born on June 10, 1945, to the late Carsby Alvin and Louise Rogers Barbee, Faye was raised in Macon, Georgia. She attended Bellvue Elementary School and Dudley Hughes High School. After high school, she worked for a cotton mill in Payne City and later, for Kentucky Fried Chicken. While she was a cook at KFC, she knew Colonel Sanders himself for over a decade. Faye’s calling, however, was nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Bel Arbor Nursing Home for many years. She enjoyed helping and caring for patients and their families during difficult times.

Ms. Yarbrough and her husband Walter George Sr. celebrated more than forty years of marriage. The family they shared brought Faye immense joy and she loved them more than anything. She also enjoyed cooking and shopping and never shied away from a good road trip. Her beloved companion, a dachshund named Oakley, was never far from her side and will miss her favorite person.

In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Yarbrough and brother, Edward Barbee. She is survived by two brothers, Joe Barbee and Ed Barbee; children, Mary Lou Yarbrough; James Barton (Brittany); and John Barton, one stepson, Richard Yarbrough; grandchildren, Leanna Pierce; Jason Seales; Malia Heath; Billy Barton; Susan Barton; Christopher Barton; Austin Meeks; Amy Barton; Jennifer Barton; and Craig Barton; and numerous great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
