Faye E. Bennett

Faye Evans Bennett, 81, of Gray, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Friday, July 10, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. The family will greet friends for a reception following the service. A private burial will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Faye was born in Macon, Georgia on August 14, 1944, to the late James Garner Evans and Velma Irene Caldwell Evans. She worked for many years as a seamstress with YKK, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She had a creative spirit and especially enjoyed making beautiful jewelry. Her greatest passion was serving others. For many years, she led a large ministry that fed the homeless every weekend in downtown Macon, touching countless lives through her compassion and generosity. Affectionately known as "Dr. Faye" by those who knew and loved her, she was respected for her wisdom, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need. As a young girl, she was lovingly nicknamed "Tiger."

Above all, Faye was a devoted wife and a loving mother whose family meant everything to her.

Faye will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Grady Bennett of Gray; son, Thad Davis (Phyllis) of Fort Valley, Georgia; daughters: Tracey Eagle of Gray, Georgia, Tammy Hollingsworth (Mike) of Byron, Georgia, Tabitha Ware (Mark) of Cabot, Arkansas, and Tonya Bennett of Gray, Georgia;12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sisters: Virginia Dobson, Barbara Burnett, Peggy Morgan, Brenda Josey, and Gwen Schalap; and brother, Jimmy Evans (Patricia).

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Lloyd.
