Fay Bennett

Fay Hoyle Bennett, 79, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, February 14, 2011 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with Reverend Jimmy Towson officiating. Interment will follow at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at Hart's at the Cupola on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hills Rd., Macon, GA 31210.

Mrs. Bennett was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, William N. Bennett, Sr. She was born November 24, 1931 to George Benjamin Hoyle and Lois Ferguson Hoyle of Thomaston, GA. She graduated from R E Lee High School in Thomaston and attended GC&SU in Milledgeville. She and her husband, "Big", lived their entire adult lives in Macon, where they raised their children and were active in many church, civic and community affairs. Together, they were wonderful role models for a multitude of friends and family members. Mrs. Bennett worked as bookkeeper for years with Dr. Malcolm Hodges and Dr. Ferdinand Kay until her retirement.

Mrs. Bennett was a uniquely beautiful person in that, even in her failing health, it was impossible to be in her presence without having fun and being made to feel special. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and a founding member of the Macon Duplicate Bridge Club. She was also a member of the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class at Forest Hills, and a Walk to Emmaus participant.

She will be greatly missed by her children, William N. Bennett, Jr. (Elaine) of Albany, GA; Richard A. Bennett (Julie) of Atlanta; and Terri Bennett Harper ( Ken) of Macon. Mimi is survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, and her beloved friend, John Knappenberger of Macon.
