Fannie Mae Gordon

Macon- Fannie Mae Mercer Gordon, 91, of Macon, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009. She would have celebrated her 92nd birthday on December 1, 2009. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 2PM, in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary with Elder Wesley Watkins and Vernon Coulter officiating. Visitation will be held from 1PM to 2PM on Thursday. Burial will be at Middle GA Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Hope Primitive Baptist Church (Caney Creek), c/o Grace Mullis, 3260 Upper River Road, Macon, GA 31211 or to the Home for Battered Women and Children. Mrs. Gordon was born in Wayside, GA and graduated from Gray High School in 1935 (Jones County High School). She was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church and the Plentitude Homemaker's Club. Mrs. Gordon was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and sharing her flowers. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Gordon, Sr. Sons, Walter B. Gordon and Russell M. Gordon; Great grandson Tate Howard; Brothers, Warren, Webster, Milton, Carlton, Thomas, and Walter Mercer. Survivors: Son, John T. (Rachel) Gordon, Jr. of Dallas, GA; Daughters, Virginia G. (James) Tapley of Jones County, Rachel G. (Melvin) Comer of Gray, Dolly G. (Bill) Elmore of Byron, Connie G. (Walter) Wooten of Gray, and Vickie G. Tribble of Gray; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
