Evelyn Durham Etheredge

Evelyn Durham Etheredge, 90, passed away Sunday August 17, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Forest Hills United Methodist church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210. The Reverend Teresa Edwards will officiate. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Etheredge was born in Ellenton, South Carolina to the late Charles Manning and Annie Heath Durham. She was raised in Greene County where she graduated from Union Point High School in 1940. She also graduated from the Macon Hospital School of Nursing, the Medical College of Georgia, and the School of Anesthesia at The University of Alabama Birmingham. Mrs. Etheredge was one of the first Nurse Anesthetists in Macon and practiced for over 40 years. She was a charter member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, a member of the Grace Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, and the Dorcas Circle. Mrs. Etheredge was very involved in the life of her granddaughters and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Etheredge and two sisters, Betty June Geiger and Mary Durham. She is survived by her daughter, Fabianne Perofsky (Howard) of Macon; two granddaughters, Amanda Perofsky of Austin, Texas and Kate Perofsky of Augusta, Georgia; four sisters, Mildred Bryan of Covington, Georgia, Annette Wardlaw of Savannah, Georgia, Ollie Pearce of Augusta, and Esther Winton (Murray) of Sacramento, California; brother, Charles Durham (Betty) of Jonesboro, Georgia; and brother-in-law and his wife, Lewyn and Marianne Geiger of Dunwoody, Georgia.
