Eugenia Louise Gay

January 18, 1924 — July 19, 2012

Macon-Eugenia Louise Gay, 88, went to be with her Savior on July 19, 2012. Visitation will be held from 12PM until 1PM on Sunday, July 22, 2012, with funeral services to follow at 1PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Elder Lars Kortes will officiate and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Louise was born January 18, 1924 to the late Julian Chester Perry and Ruby Crawford Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John Luther Gay and her son, John Gay, Jr. She was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School and chose to be a full time homemaker. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. She loved gardening and each year her yards were beautiful with azaleas, day lilies and other flowers. Louise was a former member of Bass United Methodist Church where she served several terms as President of the Women's Society of Christian Service and as leader of the Dirlie Hunt Circle. She also chaired various commissions at the church. Later in life, she joined the Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a member of Lodge 345 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as flag bearer and in several other positions. She also was a Red Cross Volunteer. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Barbara (Charlie) Hobbs of Lizella; son, Philip (Shawn) Gay of Gray and son, Thomas Gay of Musella; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
