Mrs. Ethel M. Cornett passed away peacefully on September 23, 2014. Born March 22, 1923 Ethel Cornett resided at Carlyle Place in Macon, Georgia for the past 10 years where she had many friends and dedicated caregivers. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon Georgia Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 4:00. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Children's Hospital, c/o Medcen Community Health Foundation, 858 High Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. For many years, Mrs. Cornett put her talent for sewing into making gowns for premature babies in The Children's Hospital. She was an avid bridge player and a collector of Madame Alexander dolls. Ethel was very precious to her family and she was equally devoted to them especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cornett was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edgar Lyle Cornett. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Evjen of Suwanee, Georgia; son, Colin Cornett (Pam) of Wadley, Georgia; daughter Debby Rozier (John) of Macon, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Kristine Evjen of Suwannee, Brian Evjen (Monica) of Tampa, Florida, John Cornett (Sarah) of New Amsterdam, New York, Dr. Ben Cornett (Blaire) of Orlando, Florida, Robin Moore (Doug) of St. Augustine, Florida, Lindsey McGuire (Marcus) of Augusta, Georgia, and Rachel Turnbull (Adam) of Macon; and nine great-grandchildren.
