Etha Fuerniss

Etha Fuerniss passed away peacefully in Macon on December 11, 2023, surrounded by her family. A celebration of her wonderful life will be held in her honor and memory on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 3 PM at Martha Bowman Church located at 500 Bass Road in Macon, Georgia. The family will greet friends following the memorial service until 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Methodist Home for Children & Youth at 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA 31204.

Etha was the widow of Fritz Fuerniss, the love of her life. She was deeply loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and countless friends. Her community of faith at Martha Bowman Church was one of the brightest lights in her life. As an active member of Martha Bowman for over 30 years, she loved her Sunday school class, singing in the choir, and worshipping. Etha also enjoyed her years and dear friends at The Gables along with many other friends throughout Macon.

She is survived by her five children who cherished their mother throughout their lives and who will all carry her love with them: Silva Markey (Bob) of Atlanta, Ronny Fuerniss (Susan) of Macon, Barbara Fuerniss McLeod of St. Augustine, FL, Steven Fuerniss of Macon, and Linda Tuggle (Pete) of Ponte Vedre, FL. In addition, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-children, and 4 nephews and nieces, who all loved her and delighted in her gentle humor and many acts of kindness and generosity.
