Estelle Voll Nirenstein, 86, formerly of Macon, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. After her husband, Henry, passed away, she moved to Augusta to be near one of her sisters. Two years ago she moved to St. Petersburg to be near her daughter, Lois. She was a Latin teacher for many years at Stratford Academy prior to her retirement. Until her untimely death, she remained an avid and voracious reader, Scrabble player, New York Times crossword puzzle worker and a witty and incisive conversationalist. Survivors include her daughters, Lois Landis of Seminole, Florida and Marcia Nirenstein of McLean, Virginia, four grandchildren, two sisters, Rosslie Kavy of Ossining, New York and Barbara Schneider of Augusta, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Sha'arey Israel Cemetery. Rabbi Aaron Rubinstein will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sha'arey Israel Synagogue, 611 First Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
