Ernestine Greene Mumford

Mrs. Ernestine Greene Mumford, age 94 of Laurinburg, resided with her grandson in Macon, Georgia, passed away to her Heavenly home on Sunday, August 7, 2016. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Harry Clark and Rev. J.R. Davis. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Mrs. Mumford was the daughter of the late Barney and Mollie Jane Skipper Greene born May 11, 1922 in Horry County, South Carolina. She was the loving wife to the late George Lee Mumford who passed away in 1996. She retired from Waverly Mills after 33 ½ years of service. She faithfully served the Lord and was a longtime member of the East Laurinburg Church of God. She loved reading her Bible, singing gospel music with her trio and mentoring to the children in her family and neighborhood. Mrs. Mumford will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who will truly be missed. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Josh Lee Holloway; brothers, Lacy Greene, Horton Greene and sisters, Irene Haywood, Magalene Hamilton, Maxine Sellers, and Geraldine Greene. Surviving are her children, son, Ernest Lee Mumford of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Tyresa Haywood (John) of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, E. Lee Mumford II (Lynn), Tina M. Stanton (Clint), LaDon Bartell (Patricia), Daniel L. Mumford (Pamela), Jennifer Lett (Bryan); eleven great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10th at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Memorial donations are requested to be given in Mrs. Mumford's memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA, 31210.
