Ernest Franklin “Jim” Bragg, Jr.

Ernest Franklin “Jim” Bragg, Jr., 81, of Macon, passed away on July 7, 2024, at Pine Pointe surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm, Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Macon Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Bragg Jam, Inc., braggjam.org .

Son of the late Ernest and Richie Bragg, Jim was born on July 28, 1942, in Macon.  After earning an industrial engineering degree from Georgia Tech, Jim dedicated many years of service to Blue Bird, where he retired as an Industrial Engineer and Production Supervisor. His professional achievements were rivaled only by his passion for the great outdoors; Jim was an avid fisherman, a skilled hunter, and master gardener. He is predeceased by his sons, James Braxton and Taylor Wallace Bragg; and his nephew, Eric Hecht.

Attending the Annual Bragg Jam, a legacy of his two sons, was the highlight of the family’s past 25 years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Julie Wallace Bragg of Macon; two daughters, Susan Bragg Slocumb, and Anne Brennan Bragg, both of Macon; three grandchildren, Julie Anna Slocumb (Ajay) of Macon, Robert B. Slocumb (Kaile) of Melbourne, Florida, and Taylor L. Evans of Macon; two great grandchildren, Logan and Braxton Slocumb; sister, Carolyn Bragg Mattingly (Marshall) of Bluffton, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Margaret Wallace of Macon; brother-in-law, Bobby Wallace (Harriet) of Macon; and four nieces, Melinda West (Shane) of Lagrange, Georgia, Hazle Hamilton (Larry) of Macon, Christine Wilson (Joe) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Shelley Cummings (Danny) of Ohio.
