Emily Winters Greene, 94, died Friday, March 20, 2015. Funeral services will be held at the Bradley Baptist Church on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held at 1:00PM at the Bradley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall until funeral time. The Reverend Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any contributions to be made to the Bradley Baptist Church, P. O. Box 61, Gray, Georgia 31032. Mrs. Greene was born October 29, 1919, in Bradley, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Winters and the late Sallie Lou Slocumb Winters. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Joseph Conrad Greene. Mrs. Greene graduated from Jones County High School and attended Bessie Tift College and Georgia-Alabama Business College. She was appointed by Governor Jimmy Carter as Judge of the Small Claims Court of Jones County, Georgia and served many years. She also served at the Jones County Tax Office as needed. In 1934, Mrs. Greene became a member of the Bradley Baptist Church, which she dearly loved, and served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She also served as Treasurer of the church for seventeen years and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and Senior Adult Group. She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. Mrs. Greene is survived by her daughter, Angela Greene Spear, and son-in-law, John Louis Spear, MD; grandson, John Louis Spear and his wife, Alexandra Sanchez-Spear; granddaughter, Emily Spear Gambone and her husband, Scott C. Gambone; great-grandchildren, Callee Sophia and Anslee Bella Gambone and Joshua and Megan Johnson; sister-in-law, Rubye Devereux Winters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
