Ellie Wilson “E.W.” Greene, Jr. passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the age of 79.
“Cowboy”, as he was affectionately known, was a life-long resident of Jones County. He was a graduate of Jones County High School (class of 1962) and member of Bradley Baptist Church. As co-owner of Greene Bros. Dairy from 1976-2006 and co-owner of Greene Settlement Farms from 2006 to date, Cowboy spent his life as a dedicated farmer. Outside of the farm, Cowboy was an avid hunter. Known for his charming blue eyes, humor, and one-liners, Cowboy will be remembered for his smile and ability to find and create laughter in the smallest of things. All who knew him would agree he was certainly one-of-a-kind. He is preceded in death by his parents, E. Wilson, Sr. and Fannie Greene, and his nephew, Brett Lowe.
E.W. is survived by his two sons, Cliff (Terri) Greene and Heath (Kathy) Greene; six grandchildren, Taylor Greene, Ryan Burgess (Cheyanna), Haley Greene, Katelynn Greene, Wheeler Greene, and Miller Greene all of Gray; siblings June Lowe (Chet) of Warner Robins and Dan Greene (Beth) of Gray; nieces Lizabeth Mellon (Todd), Leslie Brown (Chris), Danielle Wheeler (Carl), and Megan Bridges (Daniel); nephew Zach Greene and several great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00 at Bradley Baptist Church. Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 also at Bradley Baptist.
