Ellen Carolyn Grizzle Williams, born January 1, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to John B. and Ellen Grizzle. She was the youngest of four children- John Grizzle (wife Barbara) of Macon, Georgia, Shirley (husband Irish B. Roberts of Byron) and Ann (husband Joe) Roberts of Macon. She is survived by her siblings, her longtime companion, Anthony Cox and her three children, Carmen D'Ree Wallace (Palm City, Fl), Carson David Williams (Mount Pleasant, SC) and Carla D'Nai Garrison (husband Don) (Nicholasville, KY). She has five grandchildren, Casey Wallace, Connor Wallace and Carter Wallace, all from Palm City, FL, Jessica Williams, Charleston, SC, Sydney Garrison and Nathan Garrison, Nicholasville, KY. She was very close with Tony's family, including his sons, Ryan and Kurt (wives Denise and Melanie and grandchildren Zachary and Evan), all of Panama City Beach, FL. She was also extremely close with Tony's brother, Mike (Uncle Mike), and his wife, Linda, of Douglasville, Georgia. Carolyn was a loving person and devoted her life to caring for others. She was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from Nursing School at the Macon Hospital at 21 years old (1963). The program was affiliated with Mercer University. She spent many years thereafter raising her three children. After her children were older, she went to work for Tallahassee Single Day Surgery. Carolyn retired from Tallahassee Single Day Surgery August 31, 2007 after a 21 year career there as a Perioperative Registered Nurse in the clinical and operating room areas. She was selected as Nurse of Excellence one year by her peers- a real honor. True to her caring nature, she continued to help out as needed for the last few years until her health would not allow it. Carolyn had the opportunity to live in many different places after growing up in Macon, Georgia including Homestead, FL, Houston, Texas, Gainesville, Florida, finally settling in Tallahassee, Florida for many years. She and her companion, Tony, made Quincy, Florida (just outside of Tallahassee) their home, living on Lake Talquin. Carolyn spent her final years in Lexington, Kentucky. Carolyn was baptized at fourteen and loved attending church with her mother growing up. Carolyn was a member of Killearn Methodist Church, a place she loved to worship her Lord, Jesus Christ, and where she met her beloved Tony. She worked part time in the church office for several years. Carolyn loved to plant roses and enjoyed fishing for bass off of her dock at her lake home. She also enjoyed playing Bunco for many years and had several close friends, including Ms. Elizabeth Trikardos of Tallahassee, Ms. Carrie Voich of Tallahassee and Ms. Linda Grissom of Macon Georgia. Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Burial will be in Sardis Primitive Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Killearn Methodist Church www.kumconline.org, Tallahassee, Florida, Hospice of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY www.give.hospicebg.org or St. Jude www.stjude.org. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, has charge of arrangements.
